Are you interested in teaching in a blended or online environment but unsure where to start? Maybe you are already teaching a blended classroom or in an online environment and want to enhance your skills? The Leading Edge Alliance, a partnership formed of nonprofits, universities, and regional educational service agencies - has developed a certification program for K-12 teachers. The certification is a national program to prepare instructional leaders for online learning. All sessions are lead by LEC Certified Professional Developers, Blended and Online Teaching Certified.  This is a fully online 8-week course with 2 weeks allocated to building a portfolio for certification.

Content includes:

  • Building Community
  • Moderating Discussions
  • Supporting Diverse Learners
  • Implementing Frequent Formative Assessments

Time to complete the curriculum is Ten (10) weeks and estimated at sixty-four (64) hours, including portfolio work, but will vary based on participants’ experience with the tools used. This is a fully online course.  Participating educators become “Leading Edge Certified” upon successful completion of the program. The learning curve will be great. Participants should be able to navigate the internet and have basic technical skills, for example using productivity tools and web 2.0 tools.

The Fall Cohort 2017 will start on October 2, 2017 and end on December 15, 2017.

Access to a laptop or desktop computer during the 10 weeks will be required.  Mobile technology devices will not be sufficient to access and complete the course activities.

The participant fee of $450.00 includes the cost for the full certification program, including verification of practicum and portfolio review. Refunds are not available. If you find it is necessary to drop out within the first 2 weeks of the course, you will have the opportunity to enroll in the next cohort.
